Who I am
I have always struggled with picking one art form to focus on, since I love writing, visual art, music and performance all so much. I started writing stories when I was eight years old, after attending my first summer writing camp and falling in love with an idea I came up with about a deer and gorilla who were best friends. For a long time after that I wanted to be a writer. Then, I became more interested in visual arts and found my way to art therapy. I have been a practicing art therapist for seven years and in the mean time learned how to create my mixed media collage pieces and altered books.
I am now pursuing my PhD in East-West Psychology at California Institute of Integral studies, and this has led me back to my original love for writing and stories, and has brought the new interest into my life of creating children’s books. Having my own child to read to has also greatly contributed to my children’s book ideas!
Things that I’m interested in writing and creating art about include: nature, trees, Celtic magic, fairies, myths and fairytales, imagination, ancestors, mental health, and queer and nuerospicy characters.
In all my free time, I also like to hike and camp in the incredible New Mexico outdoors.
